Selection Process

Some key information.

Application

Application forms are only available when vacancies are advertised. On this form you will need to describe your employment history and evidence your skills in relation to the person specification. You will need to include two references.  CV’s are not accepted.
 
Assessment
Candidates who are successfully short listed will attend a half day assessment centre; this will include the following tests:

Devon Fire Control Room in actionAudio Speed Typing - assessing typing speed and accuracy.

Multi-tasking exercise/tests - to focus on listening and recording skills whilst working in a disciplined environment.

Literacy  tests
 - assessing written communication skills through a psychometric test.

Interview
If successful at assessment, a structured interview will be conducted with a panel of 3 Service employees.  Candidates are asked specific questions to determine their suitability for the role.
 
Medical and References
Appointment is subject to proof of Nationality, obtaining satisfactory references, including your most recent employer and completion of a medical with our Occupational Health provider.

A medical conducted by our Occupational Health provider will include substance misuse, eyesight and hearing tests and general wellbeing.
