Advice for the Home and Community
Specific fire safety advice for the home and community is now provided on a national website. The Fire Gateway site at www.fire.gov.uk offers advice and guidance on all fire matters and has links to other useful websites.
Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service recognises its statutory duty under Section 6 of the Fire and Rescue Services Act 2004 to promote fire safety, which includes working with other agencies and local partners to create safer communities.
Sections 5, 11 and 12 of this Act also provides the Service with wider powers to respond to local priorities, such as working with young people (see Firesetters document on the right), reducing road traffic collisions and reducing the effects of other types of emergencies.
