Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service

Welcome to Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue Service Ceremonial Unit

Logo of the Ceremonial UnitThe Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue Service Ceremonial Unit has been serving the people of Devon and Somerset for 25 years.  It is a unique group of musicians who have a love of music and marching, promoting the service in a number of ways and in very different circumstances.

The musicians within the Unit are not only serving firefighters and support staff but also people with a musical background from the wider communities of Devon and Somerset. You may not wish to be a firefighter or part of the support staff, but being in the Ceremonial Unit makes everyone part of the wider fire service family.

We perform at a number of venues throughout the two counties, be it a garden fete, carnival or concert. On a more formal basis we attend the Annual Firefighters Memorial Service in London and on the International stage as part of the Remembrance Parades in Ypres, Belgium on November 11th each year.

There are many other opportunities for travel at both home and abroad as in recent years the musicians have been seen playing at joint concerts with other fire bands in Birmingham and Liverpool. In Europe the band has a town twinning arrangement in France and has taken part in Military Tattoo’s in Luxembourg and Concerts in the City of Bruges in Belgium.

The Ceremonial Unit comprises three separate units contributing to the overall presentation of music and marching that represents the best of Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue Service. Click on the blue links below for more information.
