We are committed to providing excellent prevention, protection and response services to make people in Devon and Somerset safer. To do this efficiently and effectively, we consider individual needs in our service delivery, and for the people who work for us.
We have are developed new equality objectives for the next four years following a consultation with communities. The purpose of the objectives is to identify what we need to achieve in order to eliminate discrimination, harassment and victimisation, advance equality of opportunity and foster good relations between people both inside and outside the organisation. This is in relation to the ‘protected characteristics’ — age, disability, sex, sexual orientation, race, religion or belief, pregnancy and maternity, transgender and marriage and civil partnership - characteristics that can relate to everyone.
To help us do this, the objectives are in the Equality plan, 2012-16, Safer lives, Brighter futures.
